Captain's College
Chicago Watercraft hosts a captain's college for a cost of $1,000 (good for up to 3 people, $350 per person added for more then 3) for those inexperienced pleasure boaters and for deleoping captains to update your boating skills to enjoy a safe
and pleasurable boating experience. We invite the best instructors,
certified professionals and guest speakers from the US Power Squadron, and International
Shipmasters Association to teach you the skills needed to manage your
CW fleet. The classes consist of two phases. The 1st phase starts with an on land class teaching: navigational rules of the US Coast Guard, marine radio procedures, weather and water, knots, and safety. The 2nd phase is on board the boat in your fleet covering boat inspections, taking the boat apart and putting it back together, boat management practices, setting an anchor, logistics, and seamanship. Each and every lessee/member will spend time with a seasoned
USCG certified captain learning how to manage each vessel in their CW
fleet. This event is also a great way to meet and network with other
lease-Share members and life-long mariners. New this year is our elite
classes and specialty classes that assist participants in expanding
their mariner skill-set and knowledge on specific vessels in their
fleet.
